SCANTIME were asked to recover a catastrophic FAILURE of a 24MVA Power Generation Control System. The system comprised of six 8MVA Generators, 32 PLCs and HMI terminals, 24 Breakers.

The problem was traced back to the main Central Control Panel, where the main PLC Programmable Logic Controller failed to respond to signalling. The main control program and the panel wiring designed and manufactured by another company who ceased trading, the panel wiring was also considered to be unreliable, and therefore it was decided to replace the control panel, with new wiring, PLC control and redesign the control program to communicate with remaining part of the system.

BATTERY MANUFACTURER:

The FAILURE of an automatic Battery Cell Assembly Machine.

The machine was controlled by an old OMRON PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) the PLC had suffered a Catastrophic Failure, resulting in the control program being erased. With no accurate software backups the machine was totally unusable and had stopped the manufacturing process. After 2 days of trying to resolve the problem, Scantime were asked to assist.

As the PLC was old and had proved unreliable, we advised that it should be replaced with a new PLC and for Scantime to design a control program that would operate the machine in the manner it was intended to operate. The project - PLC Program Re-Design, Installation and Commissioning was fully completed in 5 days.
